Library plans short but busy December

MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Moultrie-Colquitt County Library will host several events in December before closing Dec. 15 for the holidays.

Insure GA representatives will be at the library 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5. Insure GA is a statewide resource for information and education on the Affordable Care Act. Representatives will be available to provide assistance in accessing affordable coverage and care.

A Public Scanning Day will be held 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5. Library staff will be available to help you scan important documents and photographs. Flash drives will be available for purchase.

Holiday Rocks at the Library is a fun session on creating holiday themed rocks 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5. Supplies including rocks, paint and brushes will be provided for a fee of $3 per person. This class is limited to adults. Please call (229) 985-6540 or email ram@mccls.org to place your reservations. Beginners to advanced painters are welcome.

Toddler StoryTime will be held in the library at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, and a special Toddler StoryTime will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Colquitt County Arts Center. This fun time is designed especially for children ages 2-4. Storytime helps parents foster a lifelong love of books and reading in their children. It is not only fun for children, but also informative and engaging for the parents who attend with them.

Keys to Home Ownership will be presented by the USDA 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Dec. 9. The USDA will share information about their Direct Home Loan program. Topics covered include: USDA Direct & Guaranteed Home Loan Program, 504 Repair Loan / Grant Program, Building Favorable Credit, and Affordable Energy Star Certified “Energy Efficient Home Building.” Everyone is welcome to this free program.

The 2nd Saturday Genealogy session from 10 to noon Dec. 9 is not for genealogists only. The group will focus on using Microsoft Paint to open, edit, and save image files. If you have scanned copies of your precious photos and important documents, this training is for you. The group will also create, move, rename and use files in Windows. This is a free workshop and everyone is invited. Participants are expected to have a basic keyboard and mouse skills. Flash drives will be available for purchase.

2nd Saturday Game Day for Adults will be held 1:30-4:30 p.m. Dec. 9. Join fellow game lovers for an afternoon of fun. Play Hand & Foot, Scrabble, Rummikub, Uno, Checkers and more. The session is free.

The Library’s 2nd Tuesday Crafters Club will meet 6-7:30 p.m. Dec. 12. December’s session will feature paper-piercing to create cards and stationery. This group is perfect for the casual crafter who enjoys doing something new each month. Activities are designed for adults but children third grade and up may attend with a parent. Each participant will be asked to pay a $5 fee for supplies. Reservations for are required. The Moultrie–Colquitt County Library will close at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, for the holidays. It will re-open for normal business hours on Monday, Jan. 2, 2018.
