Teen killed in U.S. 27 accident

BRANFORD, Fla. — A teenager walking on the Lafayette County side of the U.S. Highway 27 bridge was hit by a car and killed Tuesday evening.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 15-year-old Brandon Lee Slaughter, of Branford, was walking on the narrow bridge at 6:04 p.m. when he was hit by a car traveling westbound on U.S. 27 in Lafayette County.

Slaughter was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Neither the driver Robert Harold Hall, 71, or passenger Sandra A. Hall, 70, both of Ellijay, Ga., sustained injuries in the accident.

All lanes of U.S. 27 remained blocked for around three hours before reopening.
