Tift team wins title at 55th annual Thanksgiving Bowl

TIFTON — A Tift County youth football team took the championship as part of the 55th annual Thanksgiving Bowl and GRPA District III playoffs played at Friendly City Park Tuesday.
The 10-year-old, 115-pound Tift County squad won the A Division Thanksgiving Bowl title over Grady County, 13-0.
Tift scored on its first possession, a 20-yard run by Willie Jackson. A run for the extra point was good, putting Tift up 7-0 in the first quarter.
In the fourth, Tift added an insurance touchdown on a 3-yard run. The conversion for the extra point was no good.
Jackson was named Most Valuable Player for the offense, with teammate Jaden Nelson named MVP for the defense.
Tift County had advanced to the championship last week with a 43-0 win over Fitzgerald. Grady County had defeated Adel-Cook, 35-6.
Valdosta Boys and Girls Club outscored the Waycross Blackhawks, 27-0 to win the 8/100 A Division. Grady County took the 8/100 B Division with a 19-6 victory over Adel-Cook.
Thomasville YMCA topped Sylvester/Worth County, 27-18 in the 10/115 B Division and in 10/115 C, Valdosta Boys and Girls Club defeated the Waycross Blackhawks, 32-0.
In 12/130 A, the Georgia Dawgs edged the Waycross Blackhawks, 12-8 and in 12/130 B, Grady County took a 35-0 victory over Fitzgerald.
Most Valuable Players were Trey Paxton (Valdosta, offense) and Barak Taylor (Waycross, defense) in 8/100 A; Trevonne Cooper (Grady, offense) and Tyshaun Merritt (Adel-Cook, defense) in 8/100 B; Dannell Jester (Thomasville, offense) and Kemarion Parker (Worth, defense) in 10/115 B; Aalim Brown (Valdosta, offense) and Aaron Bryant (Waycross, defense) in 10/115 C; Kamarion Williams (Dawgs, offense) and Quintavien Bell (Waycross, defense) in 12/125 A and; De’kalyn Williams (Grady, offense) and Anthony McCray (Fitzgerald, defense) in 12/125 B.
