TIFTON — The Tifton Kmart is closing.

The Tifton location is one of 45 Kmart stores closing across the country, according to a press release from Sears Holdings, the parent company of Kmart.

The store will close in “late January 2018,” the release states.

“We will continue to close some unprofitable stores as we transform our business model,” the release states.

The release notes that the named locations “will remain open to serve members during the holiday season” and that “Liquidation sales will begin as early as November 9.”

Two other Georgia Kmarts are on the list in Dalton and Macon.

Along with the Kmart closure, Sears Holdings has also announced the closing of 18 Sears stores.

The Valdosta Sears is on the closing list, as well as the Lithonia Sears.
