TIFTON — Tift County’s middle and high school teams began the 2017-18 swim season with a sweep in the Monday Tri-Meet held at the local YMCA pool.

The high school Lady Devils had exactly twice the points of second place Jeff Davis, 214-107.

The Blue Devils edged Lee County, 172-159, to win their portion of the event.

At the middle school level, the Lady Devils outscored Lee, 190-120, with the boys doing the same to Jeff Davis, 171-105.

First place finishes for the Blue Devils came in 16 of 22 varsity events.

Logan Ewing, Caleb Rice, Jacob Redd and Dylan Coker won the boys 200-yard medley relay. Rice won the 200 freestyle and Coker won the 100 freestyle.

Redd took the 200 individual medley and later won the 500 freestyle in 5:36, over a minute ahead of the next closest competitor. Spencer Shaw won the 100 backstroke.

Redd, Zach Brey, Anthony Brey and Coker won the 400 freestyle.

Stephanie Connell, Sarah Lawson, Kirstin Murphy and Karoline Ponder won the girls 200-yard medley relay and Ansley Mobley won the 200 freestyle. Ponder had a 21-second win in the 200 individual medley, with Murphy finishing on top in the 100 freestyle as well as the 100 breaststroke.

Mobley provided another win in the 500 freestyle. Stone, Mobley, Murphy and Ponder combined to win the 200 freestyle relay. Connell added an individual win in the 100 backstroke.

Stone, Lawson, Connell and Mobley won the 400 freestyle relay, finishing nearly 90 seconds ahead of second place Lee County.

Girls 200 freestyle relay: Gabriella Heard (2nd) and Madison Dixon (3rd).

Boys 200 individual medley: Samuel Lawson (3rd).

Girls 200 individual medley: Lawson (2nd).

Boys 50 freestyle: Coker (3rd).

Girls 50 freestyle: Lauren Stone (2nd).

Girls 100 butterfly: Connell (2nd) and Shelby Braswell (3rd).

Boys 100 freestyle: McDaniel (2nd).

Girls 100 freestyle: Stone (2nd).

Boys 500 freestyle: T.J. Carpenter (2nd).

Girls 500 freestyle: Lawson (2nd).

Boys 200 freestyle relay: Shaw, McDaniel, Lawson and Carpenter (2nd).

Boys 100 backstroke: Carpenter (2nd).

Girls 100 backstroke: Ponder (3rd).

Boys 100 breaststroke: Lawson (3rd).

Girls 400 freestyle: Kimberly Washington, Katie Lovering, Alee McBrayer and Sara Putnal (3rd).
