The Growing Girls Club at Sunset Elementary School presented a fruit basket to Betty Strong of Strong Funeral Home Tuesday.

The club’s mission is to help empower young girls into becoming the best young women they can be, according to Director Shirley Hampton, and it performed its monthly act of kindness for Strong following the recent death of her husband, County Commissioner Luke Strong Jr.

Strong read to the group, then she posed for a photo with the girls, Hampton and Assistant Director Staci Cortez before the girls returned to school.
