MOULTRIE, Ga. — A dispute Tuesday between two women over how to divide the proceeds from pecans they had gathered turned violent, with one sent to the hospital with head injuries.
Police were dispatched at about 10:07 a.m. to Jenkin’s Store, 415 First St. N.W., to a report of an assault.
There they found Rosie Lee Williams, 56, with a scratched face and knot on her forehead, police said.
Williams, who police said smelled of an alcoholic beverage, reported that she and a friend gathered pecans off the ground in an unspecified location until a man told them that they could not pick up the pecans there. She told police that she did not know her friend’s name, but that she lived nearby.
Once they arrived at the store they began arguing about how to divide the money from the pecans they had collected. A fight occurred.
Williams, who also had swelling to the left side of her face and said her back hurt, was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center for treatment.
In an unrelated tussle, a fast-food worker upset with a customer reportedly decided to fling the food at her and then went through the drive-through window and into the customer’s car to fight.
Shamona Denise McBride, 31, 417 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, was charged Tuesday with disorderly conduct.
McBride told police that the customer got to the window to pick up her food she did not want an item in the order. She notified her manager, but when McBride started to hand the food out of the window the customer made the remark, “If she does not like her job she should quit,” and they got into an argument
Shontoria Green, of Albany, told police that McBride’s account was “mostly true” but left out McBride coming through the window and into her car.
A passenger in the car told police that she pushed McBride out of the car.
