Benghazi@

“I have one word for this liberal newspaper. Benghazi! Our military puts their lives on the line everyday. We have been in Niger over 20 years and lost lives but no one ever said a word. President Trump landslide 2020!

Recyclables

“Why do we not have the garbage crews still picking up recyclable items? Was there a reason to stop that in the first place? Let’s put this matter back on the table as a community issue.

“I don’t want Mr. Walden to alter his column-writing style as you put it. It’s a joy reading something other than politics.

Applause

“Add my name to those who applaud our local law enforcement. They have to put themselves in harm’s way on a daily basis.

The violence

“Having been in law enforcement, I can appreciate those officers who have to respond to domestic issues. Sometimes they find themselves in a ‘damned if you do, damned if you don’t’ scenario. While an officer is trying to get handcuffs on an abusive husband, the next thing you know here comes the battered wife attacking the officer.

The vigil

“At the vigil, an officer noted that they see some pretty horrible things when they go to domestic violence scenes. And those memories stick with them. Having been a first responder, I can attest to what this officer was talking about. Indeed this kind of thing affects a lot of people.

Injustices

“The injustices that get talked about … well there will always be injustices either real or perceived. There are peaceful and responsible ways to address them.

Taxes

“So the state does not help with road improvements like they used to. I’m assuming that means any road improvements will require more local taxes, either property or sales taxes. I would vote for a sales tax as a more viable option.

No surprise

“I think it is well established now that Trump screwed up on the call to the widow of the fallen soldier. After what he said about John McCain during the campaign, this does not surprise me at all.

My mistake

“I hate to admit it, but I voted for Trump. Mostly I voted against Hillary. I realize now that I did not pick the lesser of evils.
