TIFTON — Pastor James McKenzie and the Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church family invites the community to attend their 112th Church Anniversary, Sunday October 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. The theme is: Celebrating 112 years of Prayers, Persistence and Positivity, Colossians 4:1-6.
Allen Temple AME Church was established in 1905 by a group of African Methodist Episcopal members including Sister Patsy Lassiter, Reverend E.B. Brown, Sister May Brazil, Sister Lauran Hargrove, Brother Mitch Lassiter, and Brother R.P. Blake.
The original church, a frame building, was located in the southwest section of the city of Tifton in a community called Phillipsburg.
Reverend E.B. Brown served as its first pastor..
