MOULTRIE, Ga. — Johnny Brown has been appointed to the Colquitt County Hospital Authority, the governing board of Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Brown is a Moultrie native and the owner of Johnny Brown III Concrete and Masonry. He is married to Lisa Parks Brown and they have four children. They are active members of Mother Easter Baptist Church where Brown serves as a deacon.
Brown was appointed by the Colquitt County Board of Commissioners to succeed David Taylor, who completed his second term on the board as of Sept. 30. Taylor was appointed to the board in 1999 and served on the Quality Assurance Committee.
Jim Matney, president and CEO of Colquitt Regional, praised Taylor’s leadership and service to the Authority, as well as the County Commission’s choice for replacement.
“David contributed a great deal during his years of service to Colquitt Regional,” said Matney. “We are fortunate to have had him as an ambassador of our health system. During the past few years in particular, we have completed a number of construction projects and David’s expertise has been invaluable.”
Brown will serve a nine-year term on the authority and has been named to the Quality Assurance Committee.
“I was raised in Moultrie and graduated from Colquitt County High School so this community is very special to me. I know how important Colquitt Regional is to our region and I’m excited to give back by serving in this way,” said Brown.
“Johnny is a local businessman and we know he will be a wonderful addition to the board,” said Matney. “Since agreeing to serve, Johnny has already spent a great deal of time with us learning about our operations. We look forward to working with him.”
Other members of the Colquitt County Hospital Authority include Chairman Richard Bass, Secretary Maureen Yearta, Ed.D., Treasurer Jim Keith, M.D., Howard Melton, M.D., Brooks Sheldon, Kirk Friedlander, Richard Turner, and John Mark Mobley, Jr.
“We are excited to welcome Johnny,” said Bass. “This board plays an essential role in providing direction, planning and development for healthcare growth and Johnny has an understanding of what our community needs and is willing to work with us to accomplish these goals.”
