MOULTRIE, Ga. — In honor of National Friends of Libraries Week, Oct. 15-21, the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library System is thanking its Friends group, who contribute so much of their time and expertise to enhance the library’s services.
The Friends of the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library System began in November 2009, and over the course of the past eight years has made a significant difference in the library through their donations of money, time and labor, according to a press release from the library. Some of their accomplishments include completely renovating the Melody Stinson Jenkins classroom, providing the library’s first Clear Touch Interactive Board, and purchasing PC Reservation software that improves patrons’ computer access. They also provided strong grassroots support for the recent push for the library’s renovation.
“We are so lucky to have this amazing group of library supporters working on behalf of our libraries,” said Library Director Holly Phillips. “The passion and enthusiasm they show for their library is inspirational, and means so much me and the whole library staff. This year, when advocating for support for our renovation grant, the Friends worked tirelessly to get the word out to the whole community and our representatives. They played a huge part in our success.”
