SoopaFitt Health Expo scheduled

VALDOSTA — SoopaFitt wants a super fit area.

From 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, American Kinetics LLC and Walgreens, CareSource, Georgia DPH, and Rivers Radio Group Valdosta will present the Second Annual SoopaFitt Health Expo and Street Festival.

The SoopaFitt Health Expo and Street Festival will take place near the corner of the Martin Luther King Memorial Park, 201 E. Martin Luther King Drive, according to organizers. And along the street closure route of Florida Avenue, Patterson Street, MLK Jr. Street, South Ashley Street, that surround the historic Liberty Theater, St. Paul AME Church and QUOLA Building.

SoopaFitt Health Expo and Street Festival will “help the community by providing health and wellness education, medical screenings, employment services, insurance claims clinic, pharmaceutical consultations, health product samples, fitness demonstrations, hurricane relief toiletry giveaways, Super Hero Kids Zone, free food and beverages while supplies last, live entertainment, celebrities and more,” according to an organizational press release.

SoopaFitt has an obesity prevention and community partnership with the Georgia Department of Health and Corporate Sponsors that has existed for four years, according to organizers. 

The Lowndes County Department of Public Health will administer multiple programs at the Secord Annual SoopaFitt Valdosta including WIC program, health promotion program, and 1st Care. Walgreens will provide coupons for blood-pressure monitors and free flu shots.
