In defense
“I must defend Lt. Calley at My Lai. Civilians often carried guns and bombs and attacked our troops. Even children.
I agree
“I must agree. I salute the soldiers who fought in Vietnam, but I was totally opposed to the war. It made no sense and we lost precious lives for a cause that had nothing to do with us. We were wrong. Let’s admit it and learn from it.
Atomic power
“We could have won the Vietnam War if we had used our atomic arsenal.
No defense
“There is no defense for Lt. William Calley. He committed cold bloodied murder. Old people, children and even babies were massacred that day. And he wound up serving only three years after an initial sentence of life in prison. What is so sickening is that top brass tried to cover it up.
The other side
“The American media coverage of the Vietnam War focused on the failings of the U.S. Army and ignored the atrocities committed by the North Vietnamese Communists. Did our media report on the atrocities the Communists committed in battles, the torture on our POWs, the more than a thousand civilians who were executed in An Loc, or the butchering of village elders who would not convert to Communism? No, they didn’t. I knew about those things and I was there only eight months. Why didn’t the media report these things? Their job was to find the truth and report it. Why didn’t they?
No respect
“To Roger Goodell: the National Anthem means a great deal to the veterans who served their country and some veterans gave their lives for America. To have multi millionaire football players taking a knee and disrespecting America instead of standing proudly when our anthem is played is just shameful. So what has the NFL done lately to earn respect?
Get off field
“No more pro football for this Toad, what a bunch of over-paid cruds. Don’t disrespect my flag. Just get off the field
Blind spot
“The NFL commissioner says President Trump’s comments are divisive when players demonstrate against their country and its flag. The NFL has a blind spot about these protests and apparently thinks it’s okay for the players to disrespect our flag and the values of the fans.
