“I love when I get to do things like this,” Taylor said, adding she looks forward to the week each year.

Taylor also said she could see the excitement on the youngsters’ faces while reading to them.

“It reached them and that’s what we want to do,” she said.

Walters said her students were actively engaged during Taylor’s reading session.

“It was super special,” Walters said. “Experiences like this are awesome.”

As part of Georgia Pre-K week, Taylor also read to Hand-in-Hand Primary Pre-K students and plans to read at Whigham School.

Nicki Underwood, Pre-K consultant for Bright from the Start, said during Georgia Pre-K week, different government officials, such as legislators, read to Pre-K classes.

The start of Georgia Pre-K week, which runs Oct. 2-6, marked the 25th anniversary of Pre-K in the state.
