VALDOSTA — Following tropical storms and rainy weather, South Georgia is in for a pleasant week of sunny skies, warm temperatures and little to no precipitation, according to forecasters.

The National Weather Service foresees sunny and mostly sunny skies across the region for the next week, with highs through Tuesday in the upper 80s and getting into the low 90s from Wednesday onward.

“It looks like a pretty quiet week,” said Danielle Knittle, a meteorologist with the private forecasting firm AccuWeather.com.

A high pressure system moving into the area is bringing the nice weather, said Don Van Dyke, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Tallahassee, Fla., office.

The rain chance is mostly nonexistent through the week, climbing up to only 20 percent for the weekend, he said.

“October’s one of our driest months,” Van Dyke said.

The average high temperature for Valdosta for this time of year is 86, Knittle said, so that this week’s projected highs will be 3-4 degrees above normal.

Neither meteorologist saw any real chance of severe weather around Valdosta this week.

“it’s going to be pretty quiet,” Knittle said.
