That mad man

Dear editor:
An advisory posting on my website by Reasie Eldridge informing 1956 classmates of the PBS “Vietnam” 10 episode presentation, which included an interview with one of our classmates, Dr. Craig Ray. Sorry Reasie and Craig, I viewed part of one episode, where a “Cong” soldier, presenting his side of this war, commented, while watching American soldiers crying over their dead, the “Cong” soldier commented – they refuse to leave their dead – American soldiers are much like us.

I switched back to “America’s Got Talent.”I could not watch more of this senseless depravity. President Johnson’s feelings of doubt were well portrayed as he directed his generals and ambassadors. (Pres. Johnson’s view of this mess was too close to America’s feelings of this unrightful conflict.)
Wars are glorified by news releases- there is no glory in war, war is deadly to its participants. President Trump and Congress are faced with the possibility of a re-hash of Korea. This madman, “Un” Korea’s leader, is not worthy of an engaged conflict.
Un is a destroyer of humanity. A recent act by our Congress and president authorized assassination of Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein – why break tradition and allow a war with this madman, “Un”? Take him out … seriously. The message will go forward, America will not be held hostage. I have every right to express my concern. My induction into the U.S. military, October 3, 1956, through September 29, 1959, provides me with these credentials.
After being schooled in two communication courses, my permanent duty was with the French Army as they returned to their home base, (leaving Vietnam in 1956) located in the Eifel Mountain range in Baumholder, Germany.
I saw first hand just how destructive war can be on people. If Vietnam wasn’t enough, this French Brigade was thrust into the Lebanese war in 1958. I remained on orders for this war, for its duration (not serving in combat) upon the Brigade’s return. Many returned in coffins, the lucky in wheelchairs.
A re-hash of Korea will end badly. Take “UN’ out now.
