Power restoration nearly complete in area

- Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative, with help from mutual-aid electric cooperatives, has power restored to nearly all of its members.
LIVE OAK — Power has been restored to all but around 500 consumers in the Suwannee Valley as of Monday morning.
After Hurricane Irma stormed through the area Sept. 11, more than 31,000 consumers in Suwannee, Hamilton and Lafayette counties were without power.
Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative showed just 142 members in Suwannee County still without power Monday morning with 20 more in Hamilton County and an additional seven in Lafayette County.
More than 24,000 SVEC members were without power following the category 1 hurricane that tore through the region.
According to SVEC, each of the remaining outages affects, on average, just one or two consumers. SVEC has its full force, including contractors and crews from mutual-aid electric cooperatives, back out Monday to get the lights back on for those customers.
Florida Power and Light had 380 consumers in Suwannee County still without power Monday morning. FP&L has restored power to 4,170 customers in the county since the storm.
Meanwhile, Duke Energy Florida has restored power to all of its consumers in Suwannee (563), Hamilton (2,085) and Lafayette (592) counties.
