Colquitt County schools closed through Wednesday

Utility crews erect a power pole on 13th Avenue Southwest Tuesday to replace one damaged by Tropical Storm Irma. Loss of power was one of the reasons cited for keeping schools closed another day, through at least Wednesday.

MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Colquitt County School System announced late this morning that schools will remain closed through Wednesday in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irma. They’ve been closed since the start of the week.

A decision will be made as soon as possible concerning Thursday, the system said.

The announcement cited power outages, road closures and hazardous conditions.
