VALDOSTA — County and city authorities are enacting an immediate curfew for all residents.

The public is being warned to stay off all roads, streets and bridges until further notice.

The follow statement was released at 9 a.m. Monday:

“Conditions across Lowndes County are severe.  Wind speeds to include gusts have reached a level at which it is extremely dangerous for anyone to be on the road.  A CURFEW IS NOW IN PLACE FOR ALL OF LOWNDES COUNTY.  Officials from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and Valdosta Police Department have issued the curfew until further notice.”
