VALDOSTA — Valdosta and Lowndes County schools will also be closed Tuesday due to Hurricane Irma, according to a school system press release Saturday.

The school systems had already announced they would close Monday.

“Lowndes County and Valdosta City Schools will be closed on Monday, Sept. 11, and Tuesday, Sept. 12. District officials from both school systems have remained in constant communication with our local emergency management organizations. Following this afternoon’s press conference outlining the storm’s path and damage potential, we want to encourage everyone to follow EMA Lowndes on Facebook for information on Hurricane Irma. We will do our best to update our VCS family following the storm. Please stay safe,” said Jennifer Steedley, city schools director of public relations.
