Pocket park dedication planned for Thursday

MOULTRIE, Ga. — The public is invited to attend the dedication of Downtown Moultrie’s first pocket park at 11 a.m. Thursday.  

Located at the corner of Second Street and Second Avenue Southeast, the pocket park is the first of several improvements planned for downtown in a multi-year enhancement effort aimed at revitalizing the core of the city, according to a press release.

The land and development funds were donated by Southwest Georgia Bank.

The new pocket park was conceived and coordinated by the Enhancement Committee of Downtown Moultrie Tomorrow, Inc., a non-profit 501c3 organization. Various enhancements are developing in conjunction with the Main Street Program, Southwest Georgia Bank, Ameris Bank, The Colquitt County Board of Commissioners, City of Moultrie, The Moultrie Colquitt County Development Authority, and Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

The park and future enhancements will strengthen the quality of life citizens, visitors, and better our downtown, the city said in the press release.
