CHATSWORTH, Ga. — A 22-year-old Chatsworth woman was arrested Monday evening after chasing her child’s father with a mop handle, biting him and getting physical with officers who responded, according to a Murray County Sheriff’s Office case report.

Hylley Nichole Bates of 42 Evergreen Road-A was charged with aggravated stalking, aggravated assault (family violence), obstruction of an officer, battery (family violence) and cruelty to children (allowing to witness felony, battery or family violence).

Timothy Heyworth told deputies he didn’t know why Bates attacked him, but when reached on the phone Wednesday, he said he had caught her cheating while he was in jail.

“I had got out of jail and she told me she hadn’t been cheating and to look through her phone,” Heyworth said. “I seen naked pictures on there and I knew she hadn’t sent them to me since I was in jail. I left and when I came back she went crazy on me. She bit me. She chipped a tooth. She is crazy.”

Deputies responded at 9:16 p.m. They reported they found Bates locked in the bathroom of the couple’s trailer and when she finally opened the door, the report states, “things escalated very quickly.”

She yelled at a deputy who questioned her about an outstanding court order in Whitfield County and attempted to push a deputy out of the way but was shoved back into the bathroom. The report said she sat on the ground and “thrash(ed) about” while deputies attempted to place her under arrest. It said she had to be “forcefully escort(ed)” out of the trailer to the patrol car, where at one point “she was able to get half way out of the back window.”

According to the report, the person who called 911 said when Heyworth pulled into the driveway of the residence Bates chased after him with a mop handle and then started hitting him with her closed fists. Heyworth told deputies Bates hit the vehicle with the mop handle and chased him around the driveway and through the neighbors’ front yard.

Deputies noted Heyworth had visible bite marks on his back, including one which broke the skin and was bleeding. He also had redness on his neck “from what appeared to be scratch marks.” He was “holding a small female toddler that belongs to both Hylley and Tim.”

Calls to the Whitfield County Magistrate Court inquiring about the court order mentioned in the report were not immediately returned Wednesday afternoon.

Bates is being held at the Murray County jail on a $13,000 bond.
