MAYO — For the second straight year, the Suwannee High football team spent some time away from Live Oak to get ready for the season.

The Bulldogs went to preseason camp at Pickett Lake from Monday to Wednesday with a few goals in mind.

“One of the reasons we come off campus is for team unity,” SHS coach Kyler Hall said. “It gets the guys away from everything — it’s just football for a few days before we get back to school.”

Bulldog players could not bring cell phones, didn’t have access to any electronics, and spent a lot of time on the field.

When they weren’t playing, they were hanging out with teammates.

“Last year I roomed with the grade above me. This year I stayed with my grade,” said sophomore Josh Braun. “I’ve solidified more friendships.”
