Carlos Tobar, Grady County administrator, said expenses dating back from 2004 to June 30 of this year will be highlighted. Tobar noted summaries, not invoices, will be presented for 2004-05.

“I think we’ll give an explanation for some of the line items,” Tobar said, adding other line item expenditures are self-explanatory.

Tobar also pointed out big-ticket expenses for the project.

“There will be some line items (that) were required to make this project happen,” he said. “A lot of professional expertise was required to make this happen.”

Ongoing expenses for the project include biological and mitigation monitoring, along with expenses for monitoring water quality, water flow, and rainfall, Tobar noted.

The administrator added he would like to present both capital and operating expenses for the extensive project.

“I think it’s just easier to show everything,” he said.

Tired Creek Lake’s debt expense, an approximate $25 million in bonds, will not be covered entirely by special purpose local options sales tax, and the reminder would have to come from the county’s general fund, Tobar said.

Expenses prior to 2004 will not be presented on Aug. 15, Tobar noted.

County Clerk Carrie Croy said the move to a new financial system in mid-2006 has left prior records in storage.

“Everything prior to that we can manually pull by vendor name,” Croy said of previous expenses.

Croy also said the county has seen an increase in open records requests.

“Ninety percent that are coming through are Lake Authority directed,” she said.

Major expenses for the Tired Creek Lake project also began in 2006, the county clerk noted.

The regular Grady County Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m., in the commission chambers at the Grady County Courthouse.
