THOMASVILLE — The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is working three sex-crime cases involving children.
One case involves Michael Paul Burns, Sugar Mill RV Park, Ochlocknee, who is charged with sexual exploitation of children.
Someone who allowed Burns to share their computer told investigators he found child pornography on the computer.
“They were going to store (Mr.) Burns’ documents so he would not lose them,” said Lt. Tim Watkins, sheriff’s office chief investigator. “We found two pornographic movies involving children. They were engaged in sexual activity.”
Burns’ recent arrest was not investigators’ first contact with the 34-year-old suspect.
“We had gotten information on him previously, but it did not lead to an arrest,” Watkins said.
In a separate case, Scottie James Ansley, 42, Benton Road, Ochlocknee, is charged with child molestation in connection with an incident Watkins said took place at an Ochlocknee residence.
“The victim reported he had touched her and after he touched her, he propositioned her to pay her to touch specific areas on her body,” the investigator said.
The girl underwent a forensic interview at The Treehouse.
In yet another case, Marquez Javail Scott, contacted a 12-year-old girl via social media.
“They were communicating by text and phones, and he sent her some photographs that were inappropriate,” Watkins said, adding that the photos were of male genitalia.
The girl’s grandmother notified the sheriff’s office.
“He admitted it but thought she was older than her actual age,” Watkins said.
Scott, 17, is charged with obscene phone contact with a child.
