MOULTRIE, Ga. — Police are investigating the Tuesday evening beating of a 30-year-old Moultrie man whose story does not seem to add up.

Police were dispatched at about 6:28 p.m. to the 1000 block of West Central Avenue to what at first was described as an armed robbery. Police reports now list the incident as an aggravated battery.

When police arrived, Christian Cubas was “vague” in the story he gave.

“He said it was an argument over a bike and over a dog,” Moultrie Police Department Lt. Raul Leal said. “The offender then punched him several times. EMS was called.”

Emergency medical personnel checked Cubas out at the scene, but he refused transportation to the hospital.

“He ended up going to the hospital himself,” Leal said.

No weapon was used in the incident, he said.

A Colquitt Regional Medical Center spokeswoman said that Cubas was treated and later released.

Police had no suspects as of Wednesday.
