Senior linebacker KJ Scott was more than ready to get started.

“First day was tough, but we had to fight through it,” Scott said. “I’m anxious to get going. Most looking forward to team offense vs. team defense next week.”

For sophomore transfer Demarius Thompson, Monday’s practice was a way to continue building from the summer.

Thompson, a running back who previously attended Ed White High School, joined Suwannee this summer for workouts and 7-on-7 games.

“I feel like I am way better than when I first got here,” said Thompson.

Like Scott, Thompson is also eagerly awaiting next week when contact is allowed at practices.

“I’m looking forward to getting into contact,” Thomas said. “Having that competitive spirit. If we don’t compete out here when we’re in the same color, we’re not going to compete in games.”

Some good news for Bulldogs fans is the return of standout running back Carlton Hall.

Hall, who didn’t compete in Suwannee’s spring game and was questionable to return to SHS, was with the Bulldogs on Monday.

Bulldogs coach Kyler Hall said he will have more two-way players this year. He’s using the first week of practice to get everyone ready mentally and physically.

“I thought the enthusiasm and the effort was there,” Hall said of Monday’s practice. “This first week is going to be a lot of learning. We’ll be taking advantage as things are more mental than physical. We’ve got a lot of guys playing both ways. This week we are making sure players know their assignments.”
