18th Burnham family reunion is held in New Elm

NEW ELM, Ga. — The New Elm Baptist Church social hall was once again the scene of the L..T. Burnham family reunion. The group gathered there for the annual event for the 18th time on May 20, 2017.
After years of honoring each of their children, this year’s reunion honored Lewis Thomas Burnham and Nora Alice Stapleton Burnham. A brief biography of and stories about the two were shared with the attendees. They were remembered as two hard working and God-fearing people, who instilled in their offspring the importance of family and remaining close, no matter the challenges.
Their framed picture along with all of their children and spouses were on display.
Colin Hopper delivered the devotional, followed by the memorial, which was given by Faye Burnham Brock. Marjorie Hooks Burnham, wife of Wayne Burnham, and Bobbie Jean Hopper Hall, who was the second oldest grandchild of Nora Alice and Lewis Thomas Burnham, were the two remembered this year.
The youngest attending was Harley Marie Burnham, daughter of Todd Burnham and Nicole Nowak, granddaughter of Gary and Vickie Burnham, and the great-granddaughter of Betty Burnham, who was also the oldest attendant. Colin Hopper traveled the greatest istance, coming from Byron, Ga.
Gary Burnham blessed the food, and after the meal, Karen Burnham Goines and her daughter, Cora, entertained the crowd with some musical selections, which were enjoyed by all.
Following the entertainment, Vickie Burnham for the first time, onducted the annual auction, which provides funds for the cost of the yearly event.
Danny Dangar was the winner of a rod and reel, this year’s door prize.
Among those attending from out of town were: Ken and Mary Flowe, Ricky Burnham, Paula, Dale and Ryan Hodges and Gene Snipes of Albany; Colin Hopper, Byron, Ga.; Gary and Vickie Burnham, Kenneth and Faye Brock and Tracy Walden and girls of Doerun; Ray Burnham, Gena Burnham and Cindy and Hulyn Ford of Sylvester; Sheila Burnham of Tifton; Janice Bachelor of Norman Park; Deborah Lewis of Leesburg; Chelsea Burnham, Todd Burnham, Nicole Nowak, her son Caleb and Harley Burnham all of Nashville; Jill Hunter of Baconton and Danny and Brandy Dangar of Omega, Ga.
Local attendees included: Betty Burnham, Kathy Burnham, Shannon and Brandy Hancock and sons, Jerry Burnham Jr., Marlene Weber and girls, Darrell and Faye Burnham, Sherri Holweger and family, Lynn and Tammy Jarvis, James Golden, June and Randall Burnham, Karen Goines and Cora Goines, Angie and Roger Hancock, Amber Hancock and Wayne Burnham.
Next year’s reunion will be held at approximately the same time.
