MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Moultrie-Colquitt County Library System will be closed Aug. 7-11 for inventory. Normal hours will resume on Saturday, Aug. 12, in Moultrie and Monday, Aug. 14, in Doerun. But before inventory begins, the library will host two fun events, with more coming later in the month after it reopens.
Naturally Yours
At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, the Moultrie Library will offer the second in a series of workshops about making beauty products at home. Staffers Melody Jenkins and Amanda Burroughs will share tips, tricks and recipes for creating homemade beauty products. Everyone will make lip balm and a bath fizzy to take home. The workshop is free but the library is asking everyone to pre-register so no one has to go without.
Rocking the Library
With painted rocks hiding around town waiting to surprise and delight the finders, the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library can’t wait to join in the fun. The Moultrie Rocks Facebook group and the library will host a rock painting party at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5. Moultrie Rocks is a local group that paints rocks and places them around the neighborhood to spread kindness and positive messages in the community.
Participants will try their hands at painting rocks that may be used to participate in the rock painting craze popping up all over the country. All supplies will be provided. If you want to bring your own rock feel free. Rocks the size of a half-dollar coin up to palm size work best. There is a $1 materials fee for each person attending. Everyone should wear clothing suitable for a paint party. All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Rescheduled
Some monthly meetings are being moved because of the inventory schedule.
The Brown Bag Book Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 15 at 11:30 am instead of the second Tuesday.
The Library Crafters will meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 15.
The 2nd Saturday Game Day for Adults will meet as usual on the second Saturday, Aug. 12, at 1:30 p.m.
Library Stitchers
Library Stitchers is a new group that has recently started at the library. It meets on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. The group began as a part of the International Knit in Public Day event held at the library. Participants decided they liked getting together to enjoy chatting and share their love of needlecraft so much they wanted to continue. There is no fee and everyone is welcome to bring their own projects. Skill levels include beginners to the more advanced. Anyone who would like to learn to knit is welcome and basic supplies will be shared.
