MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Moultrie woman was attacked in her residence Sunday when a man whom she had sent text messages to end their relationship showed up and pulled a gun.

Sasha Rogers, 29, told police that while she was texting the man he came in through her front door, went into her bedroom and shut the door behind him. He then took her phone and punched her in the left side of the jaw.

He then pulled a gun and began examining the contents of her phone, she said. When she tried to take it back, he pulled her by the feet, making her fall to the floor, and then got on top of her and choked her.

She bit the intruder and kicked him to break free. Before leaving the man broke her phone and used the gun to break a television and mirror.

He also threatened to kill her, she told police.

Rogers had swelling to the left side of her face, police said. An officer took photos of her injury and the broken belongings.

Arrests

Sheriff’s Office

• James Stevens Jr., 27, 193 Grass Farm Road, Omega, was charged Sunday with pedestrian under the influence.

Stevens was arrested after police received a call that a neighbor reported that Stevens appeared to be under the influence of some substance and had tried to enter his residence.

• Beth Marie Fish, 37, 603 Willis Lane, Omega, was charged Sunday with interference with electronic monitoring device.

The contractor who monitors the bracelets for the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office reported at 5:09 a.m. Sunday that Fish had tampered with her ankle monitor.

When police got in contact with Fish by phone, she reported that she cut the strap because it was causing pain and swelling to her leg. She reported to the sheriff’s office, where she was arrested.

• Kenneth Dusty Moore, 33, 859 Old Berlin Road, was charged Saturday with driving under the influence, open container in vehicle and failure to drive within single lane.

• Noe Luna, 26, 320 Sardis Church Road, was charged Saturday with driving under the influence and failure to drive within single lane.

An officer investigating a report of a suspicious driver in a Ford F-250 at about 5:30 a.m. in the area of Highway 133 South and Edmondson Road found the truck, which was in the roadway with Luna slumped over with his eyes closed.

The engine was running and Luna apparently had his foot on the brake pedal, police said. When the officer told him to pull onto the shoulder of the road to get out of the roadway, Luna instead began driving on the roadway, “weaving across both lanes of traffic” as police followed.

He pulled to the shoulder of the highway a short distance from his original location at which time he was arrested.

• Mary Lee Starnes, 36, 330 S. Railroad St., Norman Park, was charged Saturday with theft by shoplifting.

Police arrested Starnes after an anonymous man reported seeing two women at Wal-Mart, 641 Veterans Parkway S., concealing merchandise in bags and had been in the store for two hours.

Merchandise valued at $285 was stolen and recovered, police said. Reports did not indicate whether charges were filed against the other woman.

• Claude David Morris, 35, 639 Willow Drive, was charged Friday with defective equipment and driving without license.

• Sidney Lee Baker, 26, 416 Fifth Ave. S.E., was charged Friday with criminal trespass.

• Jerry Lynn King Jr., 49, 621 Fourth Ave. S.W., was charged Friday with theft by shoplifting.

King was arrested after an employee at the 800 W. Central Ave. Oxley’s reported that a shoplifter stole $47 worth of meat.

Berlin Police

• Robert Fletcher Westberry, 39, 110 John Buck McCoy Road, was charged Saturday with driving under the influence and open container in vehicle.

Moultrie Police

• Lantavious De’John Haynes, 225 Third St. N.W., was charged Monday with simple battery, duty to obey police officer, giving false information or false name to police officer and violation of the hours of use of city park.

• Michael Ray Weeks, 50, 1993 McConnell Bridge Road, Adel, was charged Saturday with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, loitering and possession of a drug-related object.

• Justin Matthew Johnson, 34, 1085 Funston-Sigsbee Road, was charged Friday with forgery, criminal trespass and duty to obey police officer.
