How to handle it: “To the ranter who said it is your right to complain, you are exactly right it is your right, but when your complaint is to the rants and raves column, all you are doing is whining. If you want something done call 668-5423 and be specific.

Drug situation

“About the drug situation in Moultrie: Did you know that our local police don’t even have a drug squad, and they don’t work together with the sheriff’s department to fight drugs? Only our sheriff’s department has a drug squad. So, why has Moultrie gone so long without a drug squad with drugs out of control?

You will be caught

“The person who would kill a woman who has done nothing but help those in her neighborhood and anyone else can’t be sleeping very well. You will be caught. Somebody knows and should step forward. Ms. Mattie deserves better. Let’s come together and stop this senseless violence. When a senior citizen can’t be safe no one can.

My rebuttal

“To the ranter that thinks I should get a hobby because there are better things to complain about in Moultrie. Getting the city to clean up the mess they have made is a start. If you like living in a dump, good for you. That’s your thing. I don’t like driving around with a bunch of cans looking like Easter Island.

Free speech

“Please quit telling us to ‘get a hobby.’ These ranters assume that their concerns should be the priority and we all should join him or her in righting wrongs. Well we all have our issues and concerns. As well I have a hobby. I also have responsibilities and expectations of those I help elect to office and the services I expect through my taxes. Maybe your hobby is telling everyone else what they should think!

Testifying in private

“So the ‘Russia group’ is going to testify in private. Wow! They run their mouths in public all the time and suddenly they want something that might incriminate or at least embarrass them addressed in private. Well, that’s politics.

NAFTA

“I’ve observed through the years that many of the people who said they were opposed to NAFTA really didn’t know much about it. They were operating in the ‘they say’ mode which got most of its impetus from then-presidential candidate Ross Perot. Ironically, many of those opposed were ultra-conservatives who said it would wreck us.  Now the National Pork Producers are saying, ‘leave NAFTA alone.’ So apparently that group is making money off it.
