Dear editor:

The Moultrie Observer Newspaper is to be congratulated for the in-depth reporting of solar power enterprises in our geographic locale.

This is a sure fire way to create awareness of this important energy source. Solar power should be discussed by this nation’s energy consumers, a subject not discussed will not draw the attention of national and state leadership. Leadership left wanting will not solve this nation’s energy dilemma.

 Wind and solar have tremendous value as a replacement for the dirty fuel resources, on which we are dependent.

Any legislation should include a comprehensive phase-out with time limits on existing electric power production. Hydro and fossil plants left to nature will simply decompose – but there may not be enough capital resources available to shut down hundreds of nuclear facilities. (A plan for nuclear waste disposal doesn’t exist for the Chernobyl disaster. Solar and wind turbines generators are eco-friendly.

 We need a plan and national leadership.
