Based on preliminary autopsy reports from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation State Crime Lab in Macon, no foul play is suspected, the sheriff said.

The body was discovered Thursday along the Withlacoochee River near the Lowndes-Brooks county line off of Highway 84.

Sheriff’s investigators believe it is the body of a white male, short in stature with a slight build, according to authorities; decomposition had already begun when the body was found.

The body does not match any descriptions listed in missing person reports in the immediate area, Paulk said.

A shirt and socks were found near the body.

The body was discovered shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday, July 13, by employees on an eastbound CSX train. They noticed the body across the river in an estuary, the sheriff said.
