MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Moultrie post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars recognized Betty Terry as a Gold Star Mother during an Independence Day lunch Saturday at the post.
Gold Star Mothers are those who have lost a son or daughter in military service. Terry’s son, Cpl. Patrick Wayne Terry, was killed April 23, 1971, when a land mine exploded in Vietnam.
She is the only Gold Star Mother the VFW knows about in Colquitt County, but post officials invite anyone who has lost a family member in the military to contact the post at 985-3486.
