Business burglaries continue

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Break-ins at Moultrie businesses have continued, with two reports of thefts of vehicles, one of which later was recovered.

On Sunday, Randy Gay reported the theft of a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 from South Georgia Electrical Supply, 100 Second St. N.E., after discovering the previous day that the building had been burglarized.

Gay told police that when he went to the store at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday he found the business office had been opened and that someone had ransacked all of the desk drawers inside. Gay secured the broken back door and when he returned on Sunday to repair it he noticed that the truck was missing.

Spare keys to the truck, valued at $8,000 to $10,000, were in a desk drawer inside the business.

The truck was found later on Sunday in the parking lot of Buddy’s Home Furniture.

On Friday, Mike Payne, 57, reported that a 2011 Honda Civic, valued at $7,897, had been stolen from Payne’s Automotive, 1524  First St. S.E.

He also reported that tools and keys worth a total of $630 had been taken.
