The Harper shirt is part of a school-wide uniform initiative.

“Harper is excited to partner with the Junior Service League,” Principal Melvin Hugans said. “Harper students and families will benefit from the league’s willingness to support the ‘Harper Shirt Initiative’.”

Around 400 students attend Harper each school year.

Along with the partnership for the school shirt initiative, Junior Service League also will team with Harper on the school’s upcoming literacy and mathematics initiatives for the 2017-18 school year.

“The partnership supports Harper’s goal of connecting with the community to help students grow socially, as well as academically,” Hugans said.

Hugans also noted the organization’s “outstanding track record” for supporting students throughout Thomasville.

“Harper is appreciative of the support and the opportunity to work with Junior Service League and the community members who guide the organization,” the principal added.

The shirt initiative is part of the school’s new dress code to address discipline issues related to clothing.
