WELLBORN — The body of a Lake City woman was found alongside a road in Suwannee County on Saturday.

According to Suwannee County Sheriff Sam St. John, the woman’s body was found in some tall weeds just eight to 10 feet off the road near intersection of 164th Street and 45th Road near Mt. Beulah Baptist Church.

A couple that lives in the area found the body, which St. John said appeared to have been there for two to four days, Saturday afternoon after stopping to move a limb out of the road.

The victim was a 22-year-old white woman from Lake City, according to St. John.

SCSO is still awaiting results from an autopsy to determine the cause of death, but St. John said the death is considered suspicious.
