On the front page of the Friday, May 26, Moultrie Observer is a photo of 93-year-old Randall Lairsey, in uniform, seated on the Colquitt County Veterans Memorial. In the caption, Lairsey’s family said he may be the oldest veteran in Colquitt County, or at least one of the oldest.

After that photo’s publication, Robert Gavigan, 94, called The Observer and said he believes he is the county’s oldest veteran.

Both men served during World War II.
