According to GHSA results, Collins shot a 75 on each of the two rounds to tie with Erik Forberg of South Forsyth for sixth place. Collins finished eight shots off the lead and only four shots behind third place. He had been in 12th place after the first day.

Peter Chung (Mill Creek) was the tournament low medalist at -2.

Tift tied for 12th overall at the state tournament with an overall team score of 665.

Oddly enough, the tie was with Grayson.

Tift and Grayson tied at the area tournament at Spring Hill earlier this month before Grayson won on the second playoff hole. That initially knocked the Devils out of the state tournament before the GHSA picked them up as a wild card team.

The Devils had a total of 334 on the first day and 331 on the second for a +89 score. Mill Creek won the tournament at +10, 17 shots ahead of Lambert.

Tate Greer had the next best individual score for Tift at +24, with rounds of 87 and 81. Charlie Cottle shot an 85 and an 89, Wilkes Webb had two rounds of 87, Ryan Moore finished at 91 and 89 and Reid Cottle shot 94 and 88.

The tournament dodged raindrops on the second day to finish the 36-hole tournament. This tourney expanded to 36 holes from 18 last year, but only four classifications were able to take advantage. Classes A (public and private), AA and AAAA were all washed out on the second day, limiting their finals to just one round.

Tift’s three-woman lineup for the Lady Devils’ state tournament bid consisted of Kaysie Harrelson, Caelan Collins and Joslyn Reyes.

Harrelson shot +25 to finish in a tie for 19th with Allison Avery of Mill Creek. She was in sixth place following the opening 18 holes after shooting a 78.
