Multiple drug arrests made

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Law enforcement agencies made several drug-possession arrests in recent days, mostly while engaged in normal patrol duties, including one man police noticed staggering on a city street.
At 2:52 p.m. Saturday, an officer noticed a 47-year-old man in jeans, T-shirt and black hat walking south on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

The man, later identified as Frank Arthur Pinion Jr., was staggering and at one point staggered into the middle of the street, Moultrie police said. When the officer stopped to check whether Pinion had a health issue he smelled the odor of alcohol on his breath.
While speaking to the officer, Pinion pulled a 40-ounce plastic bottle of Old English 800 malt liquor from his pocket, police said. Asked whether he had “anything on him he should not have,” Pinion responded that he had some crack cocaine in his right pocket.
When the officer checked, he found suspected crack cocaine in the pocket and also found on him a Newport cigarette pack containing a small metal smoking pipe.
Pinion, 424 Sixth Ave. S.E., was charged with illegal possession of a controlled substance.
On Sunday a Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrested a Moultrie man after making a traffic stop at about 9:31 p.m. in the 200 block of Black Acres Road.
Henry Andrew Newsome, the driver of the 1991 GMC Sierra, was stopped after he crossed out of his lane of travel twice over a distance of about 200 feet, police said.

During the traffic stop suspected crystal meth was found in the car and Newsome, 44, 31 Carolyn St., was charged with possession of methamphetamine and probation violation.
At 1:20 p.m. Monday, deputies assisting Georgia Division of Family and Children Services at the 1605 Sunrise Ave., residence of David Keith Brown found suspected meth, police said.
Brown, 24, was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
At 6:28 p.m. Monday a Moultrie officer involved in a “Click It Or Ticket” concentrated patrol in the 1300 block of Southy Main Street stopped a GMC Sierra whose juvenile driver was not wearing a seat belt.
During the course of the traffic stop, police said, police discovered that a juvenile passenger had suspected marijuana and he was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

• Jose Ramirez, 100 block Bert Horne Avenue, reported May 18 the theft of an LG 42-inch flat screen television, $700 in cash, purple bag containing clothing and an unknown number of DVDs with a total value of $1,402.
• Wendy Dean, 500 block Lane Road, reported May 18 the theft two Visio flat screen televisions, one with a 42-inch screen and the other 24 inches with a total value of $1,200.

• Lisa Johnson, 700 block Hurst Road, reported Tuesday the theft of a 2007 Honda Rancher ATV valued at $2,500.
• Jessica Young, 200 block Royal Road, reported Monday the theft of 30 prescription tablets valued at $30.

• Kendra Lyles, 49, Moultrie, reported Wednesday that a woman assaulted her in the 600 block of West Central Avenue.
Property damage
Moultrie Police
• Skylar Thomas, 29, Meigs, reported Wednesday that someone damaged his 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS while parked in the 600 block of Ninth Avenue Northwest.
The car had severe damage, police said, including a broken windshield, scratches all over, four slashed tires and two broken tail lights. Pieces of brick were found lodged in the cracks in the windshield, and a brick was on the ground next to the car.
Akema Sanders, who lives at the residence, reported that the windshield of her 2005 Dodge Neon SXT was broken and one tire was slashed.
She told police that a male acquaintance called her and told her about damage to the cars, and Thomas told police that he suspects that man was responsible for the damage.

• Vincente Sanchez, 100 block East Gate Circle, reported Monday that someone damaged the passenger door of his 2006 Dodge 1500 pickup truck.
