CHATSWORTH, Ga. — The Georgia Department of Natural Resources confirmed Monday afternoon that the body of a Murray County man has been found on Fort Mountain.
A helicopter, search dogs and members of the Murray County Sheriff’s Office and DNR had been searching for the man since Saturday. On Sunday, sheriff’s office Chief Deputy Brian Ingle said after having an argument with his wife on Saturday, the man left his residence and then got back in touch, threatening to harm himself.
DNR Director of Public Affairs Wes Robinson confirmed searchers found the body Monday morning around 10:45. Robinson said more information may be released, but the name of the man is not being released. The body will be sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
Ingle said on Sunday the search began Saturday afternoon after authorities were made aware of the situation. In addition to personnel on the ground that included three tracking dogs from the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, at least one helicopter was used.
