Moultrian named top undergrad in Thomas U.’s Department of Education

THOMASVILLE, Ga. — Students graduating with honors and those selected for top division awards were recognized during Thomas University’s annual Honors Reception held Friday, May 5, at the Best Western Rose City Conference Center in Thomasville.

Savannah Richardson of Moultrie, Georgia, received the award for Outstanding Undergraduate Student in the Division of Education. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Thomas University on Saturday, May 6, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education with a major in Secondary Mathematics. During the course of her studies at TU, Richardson obtained a 4.0 GPA. She also scored one of the highest scores on the secondary mathematics Georgia state certification exam by a TU student.

“Savannah’s extraordinary understanding of mathematics allows her to make even the most abstract and complex mathematical content understandable for her high school students,” said Jennifer Hamilton, a Division of Education faculty member, when presenting the award.

Richardson also serves as president of Kappa Delta Pi, the education honor society at TU. After graduation, she plans to teach in Moultrie.
