DALTON, Ga. — The son of District Attorney Bert Poston was arrested by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office and faces charges related to posting to the internet nude photos and videos of his ex-girlfriend.

Roman Christopher Poston, 25, 3815 Brock Road S.E. in Dalton, was charged Sunday with posting of video or photo depicting nudity or sexually explicit conduct without consent. According to an incident report filed by the sheriff’s office, he also faces misdemeanor theft by taking charges after being accused of stealing a watch valued at $100 and $23 in cash from the woman’s home.

“Roman made a mistake but he cooperated with law enforcement and took responsibility for what he did,” Bert Poston said in an emailed statement. “The (state) Attorney General has already been notified and my office will be conflicted out of the prosecution.”

Chief Deputy Brian Ingle said the investigation was turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) because of Roman Poston’s relationship to the District Attorney’s office. Bert Poston is the district attorney of the Conasauga Judicial Circuit, which includes Murray and Whitfield counties. Special Agent In Charge Greg Ramey of the GBI Calhoun office said the state Attorney General’s office will determine who will prosecute the case.

“(Bert Poston) has already recused his whole office,” Ramey said. “The state Attorney General’s office will appoint a new prosecutor. It may be one of the surrounding circuits. It is whoever the state Attorney General’s office decides. But we are pretty much done with the investigation.”

According to the incident report, the woman reported Roman Poston stole a watch and the cash on April 24. While deputies were there, she told them Roman Poston posted nude photos and videos to the website www.myex.com without her knowledge. The website is known as a “revenge porn” site.

The victim said the site “appeared to have four media files including one video and two photographs of her.” She said her aunt told her about the website, saying Roman Poston sent the aunt the link.

The pictures and video have since been taken down from the website.

Roman Poston was released on a $1,000 bond. Attempts to contact him were unsuccessful.
