CHATSWORTH, Ga.— The Murray County Board of Education is looking for an individual to fill the unexpired term for the District 7 “at large” seat on the board previously held by Jackie Rogers.
Rogers, who had served on the board since 2011, resigned on May 5. In a letter to Murray County Schools Superintendent Eric McFee, Rogers said he is selling his house and would no longer be living in Murray County.
“The Murray County school system is and always has been dear to my heart,” he wrote. “It has been an honor to serve the citizens of my hometown.”
The term expires Dec. 31, 2018.
The remaining board members will appoint someone to fill that seat. Applications will be accepted during business hours from Monday, May 15, through Tuesday, May 23, at the school system’s central office at 1006 Green Road in Chatsworth.
The board will conduct interviews with applicants starting on Thursday, May 25, at 2 p.m. Applicants must be at least 18 and a resident of Murray County.
For more information on the application process, visit the central office or call (706) 695-4531 and ask for Vicki Hobbs.
