Jose Lopez, Special Olympics athlete from Cox Elementary School, had the honor of carrying the torch to light the Flame of Hope at opening ceremonies for the Colquitt County spring Special Olympics Games Thursday on Tom White Field at Mack Tharpe Stadium. Special Olympians representing several county schools took part in bocce ball, soccer, aquatics and softball in the Games with around 150 adult and student volunteers.
