Rants and Raves

Good to see: “I just read George Will’s column about Trump’s ‘disability.’ Given that Will is a staunch conservative, it’s good to see that he has the starch not to sugar coat the president’s inabilities. On the other hand comes conservative writer Cal Thomas who will glorify Trump to the point of silliness.

Reckless driving

“The ranter is right. We are awash in reckless driving and it’s showing up in the number of accidents occurring here. The American highway is one of the most dangerous places on earth. Texting and cell phones have amplified this danger.

Dangerous

“Today I observed a motorist drive right through the 4-way stop behind First Baptist Church. She was on her cell phone and apparently oblivious to other traffic at that intersection.

The contrasts

“Thanks for pointing out the mentality of our state lawmakers. They allow medical marijuana in the state but won’t allow it to be produced here. As well, federal law forbids it being brought into the state. Meanwhile, we now have guns on campus. We need term limits all the way around, state and federal. Then maybe lawmakers will concentrate on serving the country instead of protecting their cash cow.

Applause

“Superintendent Howell and the BOE didn’t bring the Medical STEM to Sunset, they just approved it. Get your facts straight! Thanks Mr. Matney and CRMC and Dr. Purvis for bringing this exciting venture to Sunset School… best is yet to come!

Mental health

“I want to applaud Lynn Wilson’s letter to the editor. Her efforts to shine the light on mental health issues in our community and to seek services for these individuals is remarkable. Also, thanks to our local newspaper for ‘shining the light’ on a variety of issues in our area.

My experience

“My son has a deadbeat dad. We do not receive any type of assistance and therefore no ‘taxpayers have to pick up the tab!’  I don’t drink, smoke, or do drug. I work hard to provide everything my son needs. We are blessed that our church community has provided great male role models for my son. In my opinion, having ‘no dad’ is much better than having an ‘awful dad!’

Learn by sharing

“To the ranter that admitted he was wrong on an issue. It’s good to see people who have such integrity! We can all learn by sharing. Good to have an open forum.
