THOMASVILLE — Three teens — one wearing an ankle monitor — burglarzied two Thomasville residences during the weekend, making themselves at home at one of the houses while owners were out of town, according to police reports.

Between Friday and late Saturday afternoon, the teens — ages 14, 15 and 16 — entered houses on Chukkars Drive and Pony Circle. More than $32,000 worth of valuables were taken from the residences.

Items stolen includes men’s and women’s jewelry, shoes and clothing.

“We’ve recovered some of the property at these boys’ houses, but not the jewelry,” said Maj. Maurice Holmes, Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division commander.

Two juveniles were arrested Monday. The 15-year-old remains at large.

Holmes said backpacks were stolen from both houses. The suspects, who were not wearing backpacks, were seen riding bicycles in the neighborhood. When two of the juveniles were arrested Saturday afternoon on South Broad Street, backpacks in their possession were full of stolen items, the commander said.

The bicycles also were stolen.

It appears the trio lived at the Chukkars residence for a while, partaking of food and alcoholic beverages. Owners returned home about 1 a.m. Monday and discovered the burglary.

The 14-year-old, who is in custody, wears an ankle monitor as part of a sentence in a 2016 conviction for entering an auto at Archbold Memorial Hospital.

The suspects each will be charged with two counts of burglary. Other charges are pending, including criminal street gang activity.

The suspects will be detained at the Loftiss Regional Youth Detention Center.
