EPA honors Camilla ethanol plant

CAMILLA, Ga. — Flint Hills Resources Biofuels and Ingredients, owner and operator of the Camilla ethanol plant and a Koch company, has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award for 2017, in recognition of its superior energy management practices.

“We strive to be good stewards of the environment, and a key aspect of that is energy efficiency and using natural resources responsibly,” said Darrell Birck, vice president of operations at Flint Hills Resources Biofuels and Ingredients.

“Whether we are conducting maintenance, adding new equipment or managing traffic flow on our sites, we incorporate energy efficiency wherever practical and we are always looking for opportunities to improve and optimize our operations,” Birck said. “From squeezing every ounce of value out of a kernel of corn to the responsible use of resources, we strive to be as efficient as possible in everything we do.”
