Two thefts were in the 300 block of Elizabeth Circle.

The first report was in regard to a stolen car, which the victim said may have been left unlocked with the key inside.

The second was another car burglary, with the victim reporting a wallet stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Three of the burglaries were along the 300 block of 30th Street.

In one of those burglaries, $2 in change and a GPS was stolen from an unlocked car at the first location, according to the report.

The next two burglaries were more extensive.

One victim reported a handgun, a GPS unit, cash, a backpack and a Goretex parka missing from what he insisted was a locked vehicle. The other victim reported a firearm stolen from the center console of his vehicle.

The second victim said he usually locks his vehicle, but it was left unlocked in this case. He also reported to police that he found a GPS holder next to the vehicle, even though he does not own one.

Three incidents were reported on April 20, one on April 22 and six on April 24.

There were three additional incidents during this time, but they were not in the same area and may not be linked to the seven that were clustered around 30th Street.

The first incident occurred in the 700 block of Timmons Drive. A car window was busted out with a rock and a purse, valued at $200, that was left in the car was stolen.

The last incident reported on the 20th took place in the 1800 block of Moore Highway sometime between April 17 and April 18.

A debit card that was left in an unlocked vehicle was stolen out of the center console cup holder.

The incident that was reported on April 22 occurred in the 100 block of 22nd Street.

A purse was stolen out of the vehicle, which was locked, and was later recovered lying in the street on 20th Street. The only items not recovered were six Wild Adventure park passes.

The earliest incident was located in the 300 block of 30th Street, and a handgun and large amount of cash was taken from the vehicle. According to the victim, it could have been taken any time between April 6 and April 20, when he reported the theft to police.

Tifton Police Chief Buddy Dowdy said that it was important for the public to realize that just because there are more reports of people breaking into cars, it doesn’t mean that this type of crime is on the rise, just that people are getting better at reporting it.

He said that he appreciates citizens looking out for each other and remaining vigilant.

He suggests residents not leave valuables in their vehicles, to always remember to lock their doors, and that all suspicious activity, regardless of wether anything was stolen or not, should be reported.
