MOULTRIE, Ga. — Three Moultrie Police Department officers were injured on Monday when a man involved in an altercation at a motel brawled with them when they arrived to investigate.
One patrol officer was placed on light duty after suffering an arm injury and another injured his arm when he fell to the ground during the struggle. The suspect faces two felony charges in connection with the fracas.
“Officers (Brittany) Marshall and (Rodverick) Spence responded to Cocomo Inn, 1713 First Ave. S.E., in reference to a disturbance around 1 to 1:30 p.m.,” Lt. Raul Leal said. “When they got there they made contact with a man named Robinson. He was acting really aggressive toward another guy.”
The two men were separated by a fence at the time when officers arrived, he said.
“(When) they tried to place him under arrest, he fought with officers,” Leal said.
Marshall was placed on light duty. Sgt. Carly Davis also responded.
“She too was injured, but not as bad as the other two,” Leal said.
Police charged Arcoline Bernard Robinson, 27, 412 31st Ave. Apt. G, with two felony counts and one misdemeanor count of obstruction of a police officer. He also was charged with disorderly conduct.
